Weekly Review

This Week was a short week for me personally because I was out for two days. We learned a lot about how people present themselves in the online community. We learned terms such as;
Represent: How you present yourself to others.
Persona: Image of personality that you portray to others.
Avatar: Image that represents you online.
Anonymous: Hidden Identity.
Inhabited: Being careful about your actions and impulses.
For our digital literacy component we did “Staying real online”. Staying real online is basically being you.  If you act different online that makes out how people perceive you. If you seem a certain way online then you go and see them in person you might be S.O.Led. That makes you fake if you act or look different online. No one likes fake people, which are just digging your own hole.
You can always look at tips

Review blog #7

Available here

This week has went by extremely fast like most weeks here at Gaston Early College High School. We had two weeks combined this week(s). We learned about cyberbullying. We also learned some new terms that go with the cyberbullying, like;

Offender: The offender is the person bullying someone.

All bullies are rude mean and nasty. People used to think it was people that were socially outcasted. It turns out that bullies actually have a lot of friends. Or a lot of times it makes them feel like they have power. Catherine Bradshaw a psychologist says, "It's a way of pulling your core group closer and putting someone else out of it."

Target-A target is a victim to the cruel bullying.

Bystander-Eyewitness who does nothing. Bystanders are supporting the bully in my eyes because they aren't helping at all. They stand there and watch. Which gives the bully the attention they seek.

Upstander- Eyewitness that does something, defends the person. A upstander is a angel sent down from the clouds. They help so much, being an upstander is effecting the victim's life and yours. You’ll be know as a hero basically. Also a savior to the victim.

De-escalate-  Decreases in Intensity. If we deescalate the situation it helps so much. You could really save someone.

Escalate-Becomes more Intense. people tend to escalate situations because they think its funny. “Haha, who doesn't love drama?!” Lot’s of people don’t.

If you so happen to be a person that is getting bullied call someone. Find someone to talk to and remember be happy! Don’t let anyone's words get to you. If someone is bullying you it makes them pathetic. Especially if it’s over a technology based system. There’s always someone willing to listen and to help.

Our web 2.O tool this week was WeVideo. Some positive aspects is that is very helpful. A negative is that its complicated. it took me days to figure out the simple things involved. I like it but it’s very complicated. Also the exporting takes forever, that really bothers me. Anyways here's my video I made;

Halloween is coming in just a week or two and it’s one of my favorite holidays! Some people don't consider it a holiday. I DO! It’s so exciting, also I love this weather, it’s wonderful. Also now's the time for pumpkin pie, that or which is Delicious.

Overall week has been pretty amazing. We learned today from our wonderful teacher that we will possibly be in our building in about two weeks. Which is a relief to all of us.

Tech Article!

Will an iPad Mini be worth buying?

Will an iPad Mini be worth buying?

My article is about how the mini ipad will soon be developed, and if it's worth the money. Apple is soon releasing the ipad mini. This is going to be considerably smaller, and more accessible. The writer of my article thinks it might cost around $200. This is a good price to me considering how much the normal ipad cost.
Apple might soon be releasing a mini ipad. It will be considerably cheaper than the 3rd generation ipad. The ipad cost around $650. The new mini will be smaller and easier to use if you’re standing or in public, unlike its father ipad who weighs a ton. When or if they release it, it will probably be about 8in.

I think the mini ipad is a wonderful idea. It puts a whole new spin on the tablet wars. Personally I prefer the android devices but if it’s going to cost a respectable amount, I might get one. This affects me because if I want one I am going to buy one or get one for Christmas.  Also I believe if the ipad is on the level of price the author of this article believes it will make its sales go up considerably

This impacts the world, apple is impacted because they are the company that is creating the tablet. Also it affects each and everyone of the workers and business people that works at apple. It also affects all the company's that are creating android tablets and such. if the mini ipad sells good then it will put their stock low.

Week Seven

This week has flown by here at GECHS. Today we have our 2nd club day. We learned about a new web 2.O tool. We also worked on our Digital Driver's License. We worked a lot on sexting and the dangers. Here's some descriptions on what we did this week;

We learned some new terms this week like;
Self-disclosure - Sharing private or confidential information about your sex life to other people.
Reciprocate - to give and return.
Sexting - sending or reading sexually explicit photos or videos through text or other devices.
We also learned more into sexting. Sexting is a horrible way to get someone to like you. Just because you send a dirty picture does not mean that that will make someone like you.  If a person likes you they like you for you.  Picture is not going to change that. Have self-respect and just do not do it.

This week our web 2.O tool was a comic maker. It’s called Make Belief Comix. It’s a really good tool for making comics. I don’t like how it does not have many options. I like how you can click a character and you can change their expressions and outfits.
Here is mine we made on how to build relationships and one how to avoid sexting;

This week we also worked more on our Digital Driver’s License. It’s was also on sexting and ways to avoid it. This issue affects me because people are committing suicide because they are getting bullied and the picture is getting sent around. The easiest way to avoid this as I see is to just not do it. Girls don’t send them. Guys, don’t ask for them, having that picture does not make you a man. It makes you a jerk, if you like a girl you like her. Point blank, we don’t realize that sometimes it’s the girls asking. If you have picture don’t show everyone. Delete it, but remember even if it’s deleted it’s still there forever.

Overall my week has gone by super-fast. I’m so ready to get into the building, I’m sure everyone else is too. Also I’m looking forward for Mrs.Hibberts to come back.
