CNN: 911 text Messaging Service

New Technology in the world of Technology shows that in 2014 we will have the ability to send text messages to 911 during emergencies. Right now most 911 calling centers can't receive text messages. 90% of the population will have this ability.

I believe this is a wonderfully great idea. This is going to help the world so much, I have a feeling this advancement is going to be vital to people. This affects me because if i was in a situation where I needed emergency services a text message is much easier accessible to me.

That makes a huge impact on the world of deaf individuals, this has been an issue for them. If someone is deaf this makes it possible for them to get help.

Also if you have a murderer in your house a phone call your be the cause of your death.

Is The Electronic Cigarette Healthy? Is It The Future of Smoking?

My article is about the electronic cigarettes, and how they can benefits us. Some benefits are;

  • No tar, tobacco, carbon monoxide, or ash.
  • Get the same amount of nicotine as a regular cigarette.
  • Each cartridge costs less than $2, and is equivalent to an entire pack of cigarettes.
  • The average consumer can expect to save over $1,000 each year
  • You won’t “smell” like a smoker any longer.
  • Different flavors are available.
  • No more second-hand smoke.
These cigarettes are very helpful, they can weaken the chances of your body getting harmed. Also the vapor kinda works as a nicotine substitute. Also there is no risk of cancer, it's listed as one off the top ten health trends.

This affects me because everyone around me smokes. It helps me and the world because it doesn't have secondhand smoke. It also eliminates the risk of cancer from cigarettes toxins. It impacts the world becasue if everyone who smokes cigarettes start smoking these it will help the health of everyone around the world.

    Weekly Review

    This has been a pretty average week. School is school, is going to be boring. We did not have a web 2.O tool this week; we did have a digital literacy component, though. It was on Scams and Phishing.  Here are the terms we had;

    Scam:  An attempt to trick someone, usually with the intentions of stealing personal information.

    Identity Theft: A type of crime in which your private information is stolen and used for criminal activity.

    Vulnerable: When you are in a position that makes it easier for you to be harmed or attacked.

    Phishing: When people send phony emails, pop up messages, social media messages, texts, calls, or links to fake websites. They send these in order to hook you into giving out your personal information.
    Scam artist are not the brightest people ever because they leave little clues to if it is a scam. Some of these clues involve, a sense of urgency, needs account information, spelling errors, too good to be true, generic greeting.

    Identify Theft is a major problem today; they will steal your information and use it for personal gain. They look for many things because with these thing are what they need in order to get your identity. Here’s a list of some things they look for:
    Ø  Full name
    Ø  Date Of birth
    Ø  Social Security Number
    Ø  Passwords
    Ø  Previous and current address
    Ø  Driver’s license or the number
    Ø  Passport

    f someone steals your personal information there are some things that can or will happen. Six things are, Jail, Bankrupt, Accounts Hacked, Bad credit, Parent trouble. If your credit goes down you can buy anything, if you do the interest with double or triple. Then you can pay the interest which makes it lower.

    The thing people need to do is to be more careful and pay more attention to their surroundings. You need to shred all your receipts and important papers. Also if you have a prescription pill bottle scratch off the name of other information. They can steal your prescriptions and might even be able to get some information from it.

    Review blog

    This week has been okay. I am still sick from last week but I'm slowly getting better. We got into our new building and it's very beautiful. The internet connection is so super slow. It's bad when internet explore works faster than chrome.

    We did a mix book this week, I like mix book. At first I couldn't figure out how to use it at all. On the original days we were working on it I was out though. It's a liltle complicated, mine is not as good as some of these others.

    Our digital literacy component this week was digital tracking. Which is what we did a mixbook on. We had to list 7 tips for helping the growth of it.Tips are;

    • Do not click on a link that appears to be randomly sent by someone you know, especially if there is no explanation for why the link was sent, or if the explanation is out of character for the sender (i.e. horribly misspelled or talking about what a great deal they discovered).
    • Do not click on a link that was sent to you by a business you don’t know that is advertising a great deal. Instead, perform an online search for the business, make sure it’s legitimate, and go directly to the business’ website to find the deal yourself.
    • Do not click on a link that was sent to you by a business you have an existing account with.
    • • Do not provide email addresses to mailing lists unless you need to do
    • so.
    • • Unsubscribe from listservs or websites that you do not regularly use.
    • • Limit the number of times you click on ads, no matter what they are
    • for.
    • • Avoid “too good to be true” products, deals, and opportunities. Once
    • you have confirmed your email address, they are likely to sell your email
    • address to other companies.
    • Make sure you have antivirus software, and that it also protects against
    • spyware, programs that secretly collect your data.
    • • Disable Internet “cookies,” so that companies cannot put tracking
    • devices on your computer. (Sites will not be able to remember your
    • preferences as well this way, which is something to consider.)
    • • Investigate computer applications that block popup
    • ads.
    • • Examine sites’ privacy policies before you reveal any information on
    • the site; avoid using sites that will share your data with others.
