Weekly Blog Review

This week has been "Interesting".  We learned some new terms like "A.S.P.E.C.T”.
A: Authority.  This basically states to verify the authors credentials.

S: source.  If the information is presented as fact, does the author document sources?

P: Purpose. Why was it written? Is it too basic? Too complicated?

E: Evenness. Just because the source is biased does not mean you cannot use it.

C: Coverage. Is your topic covered thoroughly? Does it have the information you need? Is it relevant?

T: Timeliness. When was it written? If you are working on a science report then you need up to date information.
We made a Mind map of these terms. A mind map is like notes to me. It helps me remember things.  Its pros are it’s easy to use, but some cons are that there is not much you can do on it.  It’s a great tool, but it doesn’t cover/have everything I’d like to.

We also have been working on our digital drivers license work.  It was a story about an octopus called a tree octopus.  It resides in the tropical region of the Olympic Peninsula.  We worked on Digital Fluency, where we learned how to tell if a website is credible. You have to check the domain of the website. All you have to do is look at the last part of the URL. .If it ends with edu, .gov. .Org it usually contains good information.
(:

You have to check to see if the grammar is not illiterate.  Also look at the layout, and see if the author is well-known.  Google will pull up most popular websites not most reliable.  Also check the date of the website to see if it’s put to date. This affects me because it helps me pick out what is credible and what is not credible.

Over-all my week has been tremendously horrible.  I was sick at the beginning, in trouble at home and school, but life gets better.  You just have to saddle up and get on with it.  Next week might be better.
