Weekly Current Event

The topic of my Weekly Current Event is Germany Wants Public to Stop Using Internet Explorer
I got this article from Reuters.

The article is mainly about how the German government wants Germans to stop using Internet Explorer. They want this due to a bug they found. The bug makes peoples computers vulnerable to hacking and viruses. Microsoft didn't say how long it was going to be until a new update it will be in effect.

I believe all the hacking and viruses are getting to the point of soon the internet’s just going to break. Well not literally of course but soon a lot of people are going to become frustrated with it all. I mean every time I get on the internet I get warnings about potential threats. It’s getting harder and harder to pick out harmful websites. These viruses and websites that distribute them are going more under the radar all the time. This affects me because I’m an internet user too. I need the internet every day for my school work. Also many people have social networking accounts that they use every day. There are over 800 million active users on Facebook alone. I think Germany’s government made a smart decision to try to tell the public to not use internet explorer. It was very helpful and if I had the choice I would have done the same. Microsoft should be getting an update to fix the bug, soon.

This impacts the world greatly because people all over the world use the internet every day. It’s crucial that the internet is safe to use.  Also without the internet the world would go crazy. It’s how we look up information. It’s how we stay connected with each other. This affects Germany because now many people are changing their browsers.  This could make people not ever use internet explorer again.

  1. Good work; and very interesting article. I knew that internet explorer was slow, but now I'm having second thoughts on using it. Since my laptop had obtained a virus, I thought it came off of GIMP, but since I only used internet explorer I think that I am going to either use Mozilla or Chrome.

  2. Google Chrome is super fast. It's the only browser I use. Also I always get viruses when I use internet explorer.
